Yes, in Chile we have our problems. One of the problems that plague us every year on a grand scale coming close to the independence day, are the student protests. Very well, an analysis really has to be done to find out what's going on with the education process in Chile. Education here has to be paid for in a sense, lots of these schools that are supposedly supported by the state, really do con families with low incomes.
Protests that start off peacefully..
These schools are said to be provided with a curriculum and material that are provided by the Ministry of Education. So then, why do we have to find out from the media about schools hoarding these materials, never using them, not following the curriculum, and in most cases, alot of these schools are deplorable! Then, hey, graduating these kids, not knowing A to Z in preparing for university education. So then what's up! Pre-Universities were born, good idea huh, if I didn't know better, I would say this was totally business and not a bit of worry for the students.
Then get out of hand...
Fine, the students protest this outrageous con on behalf of the government and the supposedly state run schools. Hopefully we are getting the picture a little bit, but then there are issues that are quite obvious in our state. Students want free use of the public transport system, representation on a student level in government, and the list goes on. First of all, the intelligent governments from before, privatized almost everything, including education and the public transportation system, means more or less, that students are on their own practically when it comes to those issues.
Graffiti left after one of these protests...
Because the government does not own the public transportation system, obviously the promises they are making with the famous ' transportation school pass ' is just that, a blind promise. Which brings me now to the students. I support protests, it's a democratic right. But destroying public and private property when things get out of hand, and your explanation is that, it's not your fault, what are the rest of us law abiding citizens supposed to say, 'no problem, it's all right, we understand'...Forget that!
Destroying property
Try organizing yourselves better, stop the little ones from destroying property also. Haven't any of you ever heard of a boycott? It's very easy, just stay away from the schools and you would see what would happen, I promise you that results would start coming in like a strong breeze! So students, me personally, I support you on your protests, but not when they turn violent, I'm sorry, but I blame you all for that. Be more intelligent and responsible, BOYCOTT!!
This is a site that would touch ground on what goes on in the mind of the author of this page.
