" THE killing of kidnapped teenager Riaz Khan might never have happened if Islamic laws were followed, so that murderers, rapists and bandits could be lined up and executed at Woodford Square, Port of Spain. Instead, the country is being savaged by brutal men, with the police powerless to stop the slaughter and politicians impotent " Muslim scholar Moulana Abdul Salam-Trinidad Express

These Guys Were Enough...
I don't mean to quote so much from the Trinidad Express, but these type of suggestions are coming regularly from the Muslim community of Trinidad, and I don't blame them! Mr Manning, be careful, because if something is not done in shaking up your government, it's going to come!! SOCIAL UNREST OF A FRUSTRATED POPULATION!! ANOTHER 1990!! First of all, I don't support Yasin Abu Bakr, and nothing that this guy represents. But when the normal Muslim community begins voicing their discontent and Muslim law, it's only because the country is really getting out of control. These Muslims should not be treated like criminals, instead, sit down and listen, not only to them, but to the population in general, they have a lot to say Mr. Manning. Social unrest is simply in my opinion, the product of discontent of a population that has had enough of the politics of a certain government, and the lack of patience to see that government through. For my island, and the slow development that's taking place, another coup like 27Th, July, 1990 by the Jamaat Al Muslimeen or worse, would destroy if not totally, most surely an important part of this growing economy. Taking the law into their hands like they did in 1990, was for me, a total let down for my country, and it's people. Abu Bakr did this coup for his and his peoples' own interests, with the hope of them running the country in their style of Muslim law. Criminals, no better than any other criminal! But regular Muslims... yeah, they have my full attention in these times. Mr. Manning, instead of entertaining gangs, why don't you try sitting down with real community leaders, and listen to their ideas of putting a halt to this surge of criminal activity that's razing the island. It really is becoming frightening, when I think of my people that's still there, and what might take place if law abiding citizens have reached their tether and just let loose with all the built up frustration; Of course, then we would see criminals waiting on the sidelines to enter with their greed, on defenceless citizens preferring to keep out of the uprisings. Open your eyes P.N.M, if not, we are talking another Haiti here, is that what you want, or you just don't give a damn?! Sometimes I really wonder where we are heading. Am I going to abandon my country because of a**holes like P.N.M, U.N.C and the rest? NOT IN THIS LIFE, OR THE NEXT ONE TO COME!! BUCK UP!!
