'THE kidnappers of Riaz Khan got a $35,000 ransom from his family but killed the teenager because they feared he could identify them if released, police said yesterday.
The kidnappers shot Khan on Friday night, after collecting their money.
Two bullets to the head killed Khan, an autopsy by pathologist Dr Hughvon De Vignes confirmed yesterday.

Readers, today is a really sad day for me, and for all of us Trinbagonians. This is what I had to see in the Trinidad Express on the 10/10/07. A youth from a well to do family, kidnapped with the promise of return when the ransom was paid. God, what the hell is happening to us Trinbagonians, are we becoming so goddamened heartless in this country.
In my newly adopted country, I am always portraying Trinidad as a country that's developing beautifully, people, more or less normal, and the security not that bad for visitors.
Now I feel like I was lying through my teeth!
Imagine that soon I would be partaking in an activity to promote my country and culture, to my fellow workers, in what I thought of as an opportunity to promote my country to the maximum. Now I am a little undecided.... I feel like I would be sending my fellow workers as bait to a country that I stll love, but which is simply becoming too dangerous for citizens and visitors alike.
I prefer to take the risk of myself going there, but not taking the responsability, of suggesting a visit to my island right now. How the hell could it have happened, that this kid was kidnapped while working like any other worker on his father's compound, I am positive that it was an inside job.
Then the family was contacted on the status of this kid as being okay, while a ransom was negotiated; they spoke with him, with the promise of getting him back when the ransom was paid. Then why the two shots to the head?!
My people are getting really godless, god help us..... For me to go on commenting on this surge in pointless killings would be a waste of breath, since it´s not myself, but so much other people are also voicing their disgust, with this government paying no interest whatsoever. But no problem Mr Manning, go ahead and continue your negotiations with gang members, a lot of good it is doing us citizens so far!! To the Khan family, condolences, I won't pretend to know how you are feeling right now, but I would say that I was totally disgusted with what happened. May Riaz Khan rest in peace after so much suffering......
