This is the first line of our national song, and truth be it told, a new dawn is upon us.
'The powers that you think I have, I do not; the powers that you think I do not have, I do.'...
These were the words that will be immortalized in Trinbago's history for many years coming from our new President, his Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona. This was his answer and reassurance that he would not be able to magically solve the existing problems that exist in Trinidad and Tobago, but that he will definitely be at the root of a problem that was least expected to be solved...
The tirade of blogging, twittering, and face booking that took place during his inauguration as the fifth President of our Republic, was very interesting.... I chose to just sit back and pick the sense from nonsense....and believe me, there was a lot of the latter!
In this moment I am thousands of miles from my homeland, yet I do feel the furor of hope that is building on this twin island Republic.... a hope that focus would finally be made, and contributed towards the head of government, and not just as a by-stander to what is taking place.
Don't get me wrong, lots of kudos towards the past four Presidents of our Republic, but it sometimes felt that our President was supposed to just make appearances at our Independence Day parades and other important diplomatic functions, rather than play a pivotal role towards assisting with the rampage of lawlessness and disregard for human life in Trinidad and Tobago.
Therefore, this is where I will end my opinion as much of everything was already said in most of the top blogging sites. What I will say though is may God be with you sir, all our prayers as a populace is with you in all your endeavors of leading our country forward towards some thing of normalcy, where abidance of the law would no longer be a thing of the past, but of which would be the re-birth of a Republic that once was!
