Have A Good One!!!

By Kerwin De Matas

Ladies and gentlemen, It´s this time of year again, VACATIONS!! ( Gotcha!! ) And CHRISTMAS of course!!... Kids, this is where I say bye for now. I really need a vacation from it all, to recharge dem´ batteries, and to make my come back in a refreshed way. But before I go, just wanted to leave a word or two. Remember, it´s very traditional to celebrate Christmas with the exchanging of gifts, house parties, and the rest...But do not forget the real meaning of Christmas. Christmas is supposed to be family, Christmas is not forgetting the woman, man or child that will not have the means of celebrating this joyous time of year. Christmas means unlimited love for one and all... Who is Santa Claus?? We are Santa Claus... each one of us, we have the ability to look for the love in our hearts to demonstrate the real meaning of this holiday. I´m gone now, but I will be back from the 02ND of January, 2007. By the mean time, do have a very merry, merry Christmas and a happy New Year!! BYE!!!!

Is It Really Necessary?....

By Kerwin De Matas

We see on the news every day, the statistics of kids abused physically and/or psychologically. The statistics were so high, that I had to ask myself if the info were true or no. I mean, physically abused kids 30%, psychologically abused kids 22% etc, etc. Are we crazy! Are kids just good enough to have, and when we are in a shitty mood, to open a can of whoop-ass?!.... We have got to be crazy people. Growing up in Trinidad, what I thought was normal when a parent would really have a go at their kid, for some sort of misbehaviour, I realize now that there is no excuse to go around making a child's life a living hell on earth, no matter what!

Would This Help A Child?

If parents were to be educated on how to train their kids properly in the first place, and practicing family values etc, there would be no reason whatever to beat the living daylights out of their kids. Now think about it. Kids are to be loved, they are to be taught to be responsible human beings, parents need to be patient when educating their kids, it really is a full time job with a kid around. But remember, in most cases, parents weren't tied up and forced to have kids, it was a decision taken by two consenting adults, when they decided to get together in a responsible or in an irresponsible union. So then why all this nonsense, why do innocent kids have to pay for a day gone bad, or an economic situation gone bad, or the separation of parents?....

What Could She Have Done?...

Is it really necessary to punish kids in this manner? Hell, I am sure kids can learn to do the right thing, if they were living in a household full of love, attention, positive activities, etc.. It's incredible when the experts go on and on about the majority of abused kids coming from low income families. Of course everyone knows this is absurd, isn't it? It doesn't matter what household a kid comes from, so long as there are parents, they need to set the example now, because when we lack in our duties as parents, we are only laying the field for worst to come. Believe my words, we need to get into the parent mode, from the time we find out that we are going to be parents! Great, so every time we feel like we are at the end of our patience with the brat, um kid, we can just ask ourselves before we open that can of whoop-ass, " is it really necessary?".....

No Comment.......

Guidence Is Needed.....

By Kerwin De Matas

We start another week, and do I have something to talk about! Always, most of what I have to talk about is normally from conversations that I have with my friends. Now we were talking about why is it that most youngsters go about ruining their lives, doing shit that they don´t have to do in the first place. Well, I am not going to try explaining behavioural habits of wayward kids that I don´t know anyway. But what I could do, is talk about myself and my friends a little bit.

Should Peer Pressure Be Blamed?

Professionals say that peer pressure is the cause for most people ( in most cases kids ), doing things that they shouldn´t have done, because of pressure from their peers. Are kids with low self esteem, more vulnerable to peer pressure? If I suffered from low self esteem when I was kid, don´t know, because I never really gave my self an examination to define that, but I think I was a little timid. Now the school I went to was government run, and I would say, putting everything apart, that the school was pretty decent. But to have what we called ' ranks ', one had to prove themselves from the first day, or that person would be one of the runts. Now a kid´s supposed friends would sometimes pick fights on his behalf ( thank you very much! ), to see what that kid was made of. Not wanting to sound like I was a tough kid, but I was fairly strong for a kid of my age, and could have stood my ground in a dog fight. But as I said before, I was a little timid...So in the end, my so called friends needed me when we had to group up, and I needed them to get into their circles of the well dressed and popular. So there you had it!

Perfect Example!!

We did things while I was at school that now when I think about it, I really feel embarrassed. Ambushes to take the sneakers of another rival group, puncturing the car tires of teachers or people outside of school that did us bad, cutting school to go to the rivers or community pools with girls from our group or from other schools, and the list of our stupidities goes on. It should not be a big mystery then as to why delinquent kids do things that is simply out of bounds. My mother was not a bad mother, but being a police officer and the only bread winner in our small family, the attention that was necessary, especially for an adolescent, was just not there. How many times I got suspended from school, until my mother just got fed up of bailing me out, and my uncles had to continue from there on my mother´s behalf. You see, my problem was just wanting to belong, it didn´t matter what nonsense my friends and I did, for me it was hip, and I was totally aware and responsible for everything I did.

Adolescent Gangs...

I wouldn´t blame anyone for anything I did, but myself. Now I was lucky...yeh, only because of the fair performance in my studies and me getting better if I wanted to, did some of my teachers actually stuck with me as well as my neighborhood catholic priest. Man, if it weren´t for these people, I guess it wouldn´t have been hard to figure where my life would have led to. What´s the summary then? Adolescent kids in trouble, almost always have issues, they don´t just turn bad one day to the next, think about that, bye.

He´s Gone....

Because of popular demand, I am going to re-run this article until Friday, which is the end of the week for me. Have a good week, bye.

By Kerwin De Matas

It has happened, Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte, once a very notorious dictator in Chilean history, has kicked the bucket on the 10 of December, 2006. Now I only know the history as it was told, or as I read it, so for me to really put in my two cents would not be a very good idea. But what I would comment upon, is the level of ignorance people can sink to. First a biography in brief to know who we are talking about.

Augusto Pinochet

Ex- General Augusto Pinochet was born on November 25, 1915, in the seaside town of Valparaiso. He was apparently of middle class parentage. His schooling was in the same town, eventually going on to Military school. So he started at an early age. Being a very ardent student, it wasn´t long before he graduated a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry, going on to higher ranks, to University and eventually to an important status in the Chilean Military. Putting everything into perspective now, the guy´s career took off beautifully, becoming a General any soldier would want to serve under... So then what happened... what started this saga...why would he throw away all the trust he worked so hard to gain...Salvador Allende. Deceased during office, Mr Allende was an opponent that most people didn´t want as President, even the great U.S. of A, was opposed to him.

Salvador Allende

Maybe because of his heavy leanings to communism? Most would say it was a grand factor. But was it really necessary staging a very violent coup, ending with the death of many people during and after the coup? What happened to President Allende? It was said that he committed suicide in the Presidential Palace, while it was bombarded by Pinochet´s troops.

Bombarding Of The Presidential Palace

Some of Ex-President Allende´s close followers insist though, he died a Matyr´s death at the hands of Pinochet´s troops...who knows....Pinochet said that he was a patriot, and so he was prepared to do any thing necessary for the benefit of his people and country. Until the very end, he was determined that what he and his government did, was for the benefit for all.....You´re sure right it was for the benefit, but not for all.

Last Time That Allende Was Seen Alive

Yeh, when Mr Pinochet took over the reigns of President of the Republic, instilling his military Government ( Military Junta )he did an over haul of the Chilean economy, and with the help of local and foreign advisers, he actually pulled it off by stabilizing the economic situation in Chile. Where did he go wrong then? Well, first of all by privatizing a lot of the State´s assets ( most of it to close associates ), many Chileans and foreigners alike, became extremely rich during the Ex-General´s sixteen or more years of Presidential power. Anyway, this still wasn´t as bad as what he did also during his rule.

Military Junta

To make sure he did not have too much problems during his dictatorship, he eliminated a lot of people suspected as having ties to the left. How was it done. Some was killed out right, some banished, but then most suffered in a way that was just inhumane. Disappeared. That´s it folks, most of the political or suspected prisoners just disappeared from the face of the earth. What a way to go eh? It´s not known 100% if they died by orders from Pinochet, or were taken care of by certain wayward officers in his outfit.

He´s Out Of It Now...

Alright, let´s summarize this article. What did I mean in the beginning by people sinking to high levels of ignorance? The General in the end was extradited to Chile to face charges of corruption, fraud and human rights violations. He was put under house arrest while he was investigated, interrogated and waiting to be processed for all the charges filed against him. But, nature took it´s course in the form of various ailments due to the stress and of course old age. Now I am not defending no one here, but I found it really sad and stupid that people would actually dance in the streets celebrating his death, and contributing more to the ignorance that was already present. By his dying, he got away from all the charges that was to be put forward to him.

And The Violent Protests Begin

His role in what happened in 1973 is over, doesn´t anyone of those fools get it? Now the justice system can just drag their feet a little bit more, until the rest of the players that was part of Pinochet´s regime, die also. People, if you really want justice, wake up first from your ignorance, educate your self more on what is taking place, and stop the unnecessary violence, it is only making Chile the laughing stock to the people looking on from the outside!! All of this that took place in Chile back then and now, is heavily covered by international media, and it is really embarrassing that most foreigners know more of what is taking place, than most of the people involved in those violent riots. PLEASE, WAKE UP!!

Our Kids Are Self Destructing!!

By Kerwin De Matas

What's going on with our school kids?! Kids committing suicide at home or at school because of problems with their peers, it's not enough, right? Look, when I was at school, a kid had to be strong or if not, the strong would come after them. In any school in any part of the world, there would always be the creeps, sometimes those same schools is where the highest levels of cruelty can be found. But was it enough to want to commit suicide? Hell no!! As bad as it may be, my personal opinion is that, public or private schools are the true building blocks in preparing a kid for life.

Drugs....

School authorities would always try to protect the kids from outside influences that affect the schools of today, but no matter what they do, the drugs, weapons, prostitution, bullying etc, would always enter school grounds. It is now up to the kids, with the proper guidance to be strong and to make correct decisions. They should be strong in their decisions when it comes to a proper education, or to follow the path to obvious destruction...

Unsafe Sex...

Unfortunately, some kids are not really good at following the education program, neither are they strong against the bad influences at school, so they just breakdown into depressions, finally attempting damage to their own bodies. Who do I blame in all of this? PARENTS!! There are parents who just don't give a damn, and just send off their kids to school, depending on the teachers to educate their kids in everything!! How absurd.... EDUCATION BEGINS AT HOME!!

Weapons...

Kids have to be taught from their parents the basics in morals and good living. If kids don't learn respect at home, how the hell are they going to respect out of it; if they never learned to say no to drugs from their own parents, do you really think they would listen to anyone else? There are lots of parents that feel awkward on discussing sex with their kids, failing to explain safe sex which is very important, and in the end, kids eventually learn it all from their friends or television. And so it builds, and builds, and builds, until finally, when it's too late, everything just explodes!! So for people who I know read my blog and have kids, continue the good job...

When An Escape Seems Impossible...Suicide!

For readers that might be reading my blog for the first time, and have kids, don't take what I am writing here for granted. The kids of today, are much more intelligent, and have a lot more technology than we had when we were growing up. They are open to more influences, and so need a lot of guidance more than ever, because they are growing up faster than you think!! Parents, open your eyes and be very alert. You need to be on top of everything your kid does, if not, when your kid self destructs, there is no one to blame except your self!! PAY ATTENTION....WE CAN'T LOSE OUR KIDS, THEY FOUGHT TOO HARD TO GET HERE.......

Looks Like We Don't Have A Chance...

By Kerwin De Matas

I remember one time that I wrote an article about us going back from humans to animals. Well last night I really saw it in play, it was really sad...This is what went down. I'm waiting for the local taxis that would normally take me home. Well on my taxi stand, usually after eleven at night, it gets really crowded, everyone lined beautifully of course, but still a lot of people. Fine, so we are all waiting our turn to get to a taxi, everything okay, until two idiots decided that they didn't want to wait no more.

It Won't Hurt You Know

Don't have to guess then what those two clowns did! Yeh, they just hopped right in front of everyone to get into a taxi. Well, a middle aged guy behind me just went up to them, telling them what they would get if they don't get the hell from the front of the line...Next thing I knew, all hell broke loose, those two clowns just went down on this guy beating the hell out of him, and the gentleman letting go a few punches himself, while everyone was just standing there doing nothing!! Readers, I'm sorry, but my adrenaline started to boil, I was just so pissed off with what I was seeing, so I took off my watch and was about to join the melee when the taxi driver decided it was enough, and with the help of another guy, they got everything under control. It was really incredible that everyone was just prepared to let those clowns go to the front and not do nothing at all, because they were scared? Everything was okay again until, you won't believe it folks, but these guys started with their shit again.

Try Connecting

Man that was it, I swear I saw red, and I left my spot immediately determined to open a can of whoop-ass on those @#$%&*$%! Right then I don't know what happened, but one of the idiots spat in my direction and ran off, while the other fool just went humbly to the back of the line. Now I won't get a big head by saying that they were scared of me, because I can't scare my own shadow. They ran off for what reason, I don't know and I don't care, everyone including myself was just happy that those clowns left the scene. But you understand what I am saying? I myself, almost sank down to animal level by wanting to kick ass. No respect what so ever for each other, we are definitely going backwards, way backwards....

We Have To Evolve For The Better
